Kanuka Honey – Pollen Tests

Regarding the 2019 Far North Kanuka Honey: Honey can have a pollen count test done by a laboratory technician. Kanuka and Manuka pollens are very difficult to tell apart, and so are counted together. Since Manuka bushes are only in flower at the start of the season, and this batch was harvested toward the end of the 2019 season, most of the Kanuka/Manuka pollens counted in this batch will be Kanuka. Also, pollen counts do not necessarily equate to nectar content – but 97% pollens does indicate a very high Kanuka nectar content. For more on pollen count tests, please see here and here.
